Women’s Lacrosse: Titans Open 2019 Season with Win at Dallas

IRVING, Texas – The Westminster College women's lacrosse team opened their 2019 season with a 19-8 win at the University of Dallas Saturday afternoon.
 
Westminster (1-0) scored first after senior Emily D'Amico (Moon Township, PA / Moon Area) found junior Bria Braddock (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) for a goal at the 29:07 mark of the first half. Dallas (2-1) tied it with its first goal of the game four minutes later. The Titans went on a 7-1 run to take a commanding 8-2 lead with 13:34 on the clock. During the run, junior Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley) led the Titans with three goals. Dallas cut Westminster's lead to four points twice with the latest coming at the 2:28 mark with the score of 10-6. The score remained the same at intermission. The Titans pulled away in the second half, outscoring Dallas, 9-2; Mason led the offensive charge with six goals.
 
Mason registered a game-high nine points in her Westminster debut, which included a game-high eight goals. Mason also had game-highs in ground balls (8), caused turnovers (4), and draw controls (9). Braddock scored five times, while D'Amico had four goals. Juniors Romie Schweickert (Hiram, OH / Crestwood) and Michaela Hays (Blairsville, PA / Blairsville) each added a goal. Hays also dished out a game-high three assists.
 
First-year goalkeeper Emma Bradley (South Fayette, PA / South Fayette) collected 10 saves in her collegiate debut, which tied for second-most in program history for most saves in a game, in a complete-game effort.
 
Westminster outshot Dallas, 42-22 (29-18 on goal). The Titans also had the advantage in ground balls (32-31), draw controls (17-12), and free-position shots (9-4).
 
The Titans will close out their Texas trip tomorrow with an 11 a.m. game against Southwestern University. Dallas will serve as host.
