IRVING, Texas – The Westminster College women's lacrosse team won, 22-14, over Southwestern University in their final game of their Texas trip on Sunday. The University of Dallas served as host.
 
Southwestern (1-1) took an early 3-0 lead with 25:08 left in the first half. Westminster (2-0) took advantage of a man-up opportunity for its first goal as Junior Michaela Hays (Blairsville, PA / Blairsville) scored with 23:31 remaining; junior Bria Braddock (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) earned the assist. After Southwestern went up 5-1, the Titans scored three-straight, all courtesy of junior Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley). Westminster followed with a 3-1 run, once again Mason scoring all the points for the Titans, to take its first lead of 7-6 with 11:50 left in the first half. The Titans never lost the lead for the remainder of the half, while Southwestern managed to tie the game twice with the latest at 11-11, which remained the score at halftime.
 
Westminster pulled away in the second half, outscoring Southwestern 11-3. Braddock and Mason both led the offensive charge with four goals apiece.
 
Mason registered a game-high 12 points, the second most in a single game in program history. Mason scored a game-high 10 goals and added a team-high two assists. Mason also had game-highs in ground balls (10) and draw controls (12), and converted on the most free-position shots (3-for-4). Braddock and Emily D'Amico (Moon Township, PA / Moon Area) each had four goals. Hays added three goals, while senior Emily Irvine (Cheswick, PA / Deer Lakes) added a goal.
 
Titan first-year goalkeeper Emma Bradley (South Fayette, PA / South Fayette) collected nine saves in the complete-game victory. Braddock registered a game-high four caused turnovers.
 
Westminster led Southwestern in shots (36-29), ground balls (21-20), draw controls (24-14), and free-position shots (9-5).
 
The Titans are back on the field Thursday, February 28 with their home opener against The College of Wooster at 6:30 p.m.
