Women’s Basketball: Fromknecht Surpasses 1,000 Career Points, Titans Conclude Bluffton Holiday Tournament

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Westminster College women's basketball team fell to non-conference opponent, Bluffton University, by a score of 70-54 on the road on Sunday in the second day of the two-day Bluffton Holiday Tournament.
 
During the game, Titan senior forward Emily Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) surpassed 1,000 career points with a layup at the 5:53 mark of the third quarter. Fromknecht is the ninth women's basketball player in school history to score 1,000 career points and is the first since Titan Hall of Famer Emilee Ackerman (2004-08) (1,483 pts.)
 
Westminster (10-2) trailed Bluffton (8-2) by a score of 15-13 at the end of the first quarter. In the second, the Beavers outscored the Titans 14-7 to take a 29-20 lead heading into the halftime break. In the third, Bluffton extended its lead to 53-39 and held on for the victory.
 
The Titans shot 37.1% (23-62) from the field, while Bluffton had a 41% (25-61) field goal percentage. The Titans forced 10 turnovers and were out rebounded 42-40 by the Beavers.
 
Senior guard Alazia Greaves (West Sunbury, PA / Moniteau) led the way for Westminster with a team-high 14 points to go along with a team-high four steals. Fromknecht tallied 13 points and notched a game-high 12 rebounds to complete the double-double. Senior forward Kayla Bennett (Kent, OH / Theodore Roosevelt) chipped in 12 points and grabbed down nine rebounds.

Greaves and Bennett both represented Westminster on the All-Tournament team.
 
Westminster will be back on the court on Saturday, January 4 when it takes on Washington and Jefferson at home in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup at 1:30 p.m.
