Men’s Basketball: O’Hara’s 35 Lifts Titans Over Yellow Jackets

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team won, 85-74, over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Waynesburg University on the road on Monday evening.

Westminster (7-3, 2-1 PAC) held a narrow 35-33 lead over Waynesburg (0-9, 0-3 PAC) at the halftime break. Despite the Yellow Jackets (48.1%) outshooting the Titans (41.9%) at halftime, Westminster was able to force 11 Waynesburg turnovers by halftime to hold the lead. In the second half, the Yellow Jackets claimed a 44-43 lead with 14:38 left to play, but a bucket by sophomore guard Aaron Iler (Leavittsburg, PA / LaBrae) on the very next possession reclaimed the lead for Westminster, a lead it would hold for the remainder of the contest.

Senior guard Dylan O'Hara (Girard, OH / Girard) led all scorers with a career-high 35 points off of a 9-18 night from the field. O'Hara buried six three pointers (all in the first half) and was a near-perfect 11-12 from the charity stripe. Senior guard Lloyd Chatman (Columbus, OH / Reynoldsburg) followed with 14 points off the bench on a 5-10 night from the floor and was 4-5 from the free throw line. Iler, senior forward Blake Payne (Ashtabula, OH / Jefferson Area) and junior guard Anthony Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) each contributed eight points.

The Titans shot 48.2% (27-56) from the field and 40.0% (8-20) from beyond the arc, while recording an 74.2% mark (23-31) from the charity stripe. Waynesburg shot the exact same mark from the field and was 53.3% (8-15) from three. The Titans out rebounded the Yellow Jackets 33-32 and forced 20 Waynesburg turnovers, which the Titans turned into 22 points off of turnovers.

Westminster will be back on the court Friday, December 27 when it travels to Holland, Michigan to take on Hope College in Day One of the Hope College Classic at 7 p.m.
