NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team won their fourth-straight game after a 66-59 non-conference victory over Franciscan University at home on Saturday.
 
Titan junior Isaac Stamatiades (Elkridge, MD / Avalon) led all scorers with a career-high 27 points (6-of-13), including 13-of-16 from the free throw line, and grabbed down a game-high 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the young season. Also scoring in double-digits for Westminster were junior Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) (11), who tied a game-high with three steals, and senior Blake Payne (Ashtabula, OH / Jefferson Area) (10). Payne also registered five rebounds and a game-high two blocks. Junior Clay O'Dell (Vienna, OH / Kennedy Catholic) added six points. Senior Ricky Roth (Ellwood City, PA / Lincoln) dished out a game-high three assists.
 
Westminster outshot Franciscan, 42.9% (21-49) to 39.3% (24-61) and held a 41-37 advantage in rebounds. Westminster improved to 4-1 overall, while Franciscan dropped to 1-2.
 
Up 8-6 in the first half, the Titans went on a 12-1 run and led 20-7 with 12:25 on the clock. Westminster maintained its double-digit lead for the remainder of the first half and had its largest lead of 41-24, which was the halftime score. In the second half, Westminster had its largest lead of 21 points twice with the latest coming at 61-40 with 7:24 left. The Barons continued to battle and cut Westminster's lead to single digits (65-57), following a 17-4 run, with 12 seconds left. The Titans held off Franciscan in the final seconds for their fourth-straight victory.
 
Prior to tip-off, Westminster held an official dedication for the Ron Galbreath Court. As a player for the Titans, Ron Galbreath was a two-time All-American under legendary Westminster basketball coach C.G. "Buzz" Ridl. The 1962 Westminster graduate later went on to become the head coach of the Titans for 25 seasons, retiring as the school's all-time winningest men's basketball coach in 1997. Mrs. Patty Galbreath and her family were present, along with key donors and alumni ambassadors for the Ron Galbreath Court project, including Bob Oravetz '65, Gordy Opitz '79, Dave Richards '84, Ralph Blundo '95, and Henry Klinar '01 alumnus and Towering Titan Organization President. Also part of the dedication were John Baun and Betsy Ridl Baun '70 – daughter of Buzz Ridl, who both were also key donors to the project.
 
The Titans are back in action at Division I Youngstown State University on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.
