Men’s Soccer: Titans Drop Double Overtime Thriller on Senior Day, Set for PAC Championship Tournament

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's soccer team fell to their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent, Geneva College, by a score of 1-0 in double overtime at home on Saturday.

Westminster finished the regular season with an overall record of 10-7-2 and was 5-1-2 in the PAC. Geneva rounded out the regular season with an overall record of 10-8-0 and was 6-2-0 in the PAC.

The Titans and Golden Tornadoes engaged in what was an evenly matched bout, with both teams generating chances throughout. After both teams entered the halftime break tied at 0-0, sophomore Logan Mannheimer (South Park, PA / South Park) nearly broke the scoreless tie when his shot caught the post in the 66th minute. In double overtime, the Titans poured on five shots before Geneva struck the decisive blow when Antonio Fiordilino snuck a shot past Titan senior goalkeeper Ezra Cimino (Brookline, MA / Waldorf) to give Geneva a dramatic 1-0 victory.

The Titans narrowly outshot the Golden Tornadoes (20-17), while Geneva led in corner kicks (3-0).

Cimino collected eight saves in the complete-game effort.

With the conclusion of tonight's contest, Westminster clinched the No. 3 seed in the PAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament. On Wednesday Nov. 6, the Titans will travel to Beaver Falls, PA for a rematch with the No. 2 seed Golden Tornadoes in a semifinal matchup at 7 p.m.
