Men’s Soccer: Titans End Season at ECAC Tournament

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Westminster College men's soccer team lost, 3-2, against the top overall seed Stevenson University in the 2019 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Men's Soccer Championship First Round Saturday afternoon. Wilkes University served as host.

In the 14th minute, Stevenson (13-6-3) took a 1-0 lead, following a goal by Pete Wickiser. Five minutes later, senior Peter Mattocks (Saegertown, PA / Saegertown) scored the Westminster equalizer after he received a pass from senior Ahmed Cisse (Germantown, MD / Clarksburg). Mattocks ran up the middle of the defense and placed the ball in the lower left corner.

Freshman Ivan Mojica (Santa Rosa, CA / Elsie Allen) put the Titans ahead, 2-1, in the 26th minute with a one-touch goal as Mattocks found him in the middle of the box. The Mustangs knotted the game, 2-2, courtesy of a goal by DR Medtart with less than six minutes remaining in the first half. The score remained the same at halftime.

There was only one goal in the second half as Stevenson's Medtart notched his second goal of the game – this one the game-winner – late in the game in the 82nd minute.

Titan senior goalkeeper Ezra Cimino (Brookline, MA / Waldorf) tied a career-high with 12 saves in the complete-game effort.

Stevenson outshot Westminster, 23-16 (15-10 on goal), and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
