Volleyball: Titans End Season at NCAA Tournament

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Westminster College volleyball team lost, 3-0, to No. 18-nationally ranked Susquehanna University in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
Senior Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) led the Titan offense with nine kills, followed by sophomore Becky Adelman (Randolph, OH / Waterloo) with six. Adelman also had an ace. Sophomore Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) dished out a team-high 10 assists, followed closely behind by junior Haley Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) with nine. Three Titans earned double-digit digs, led by senior Josie Toporcer (Warren, OH / Lordstown) with 13. Sophomore Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft) and DeGeorge registered 11 and 10 digs, respectively. Steward added a team-high two blocks.


 
Down 11-8 in the first set, Westminster (26-7) went on a 4-0 run and led 12-11. Susquehanna (32-6) responded with an 8-0 run and never looked back. Set two started back-and-forth and was tied at 9. The River Hawks pulled away with six-straight points and held the lead the rest of the way. The Titans continued to battle and held a late 17-16 lead in the third set, however, Susquehanna sealed the match victory, finishing the set with a 9-1 run. In total, the Titans lost by the scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-18.
 
Westminster, led by 27th-year Head Coach Tammy Swearingen, won its fourth Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship.
