Women’s Basketball: Titans Roll Past Nittany Lions On the Road

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's basketball team defeated non-conference opponent, Penn State New Kensington, by a score of 69-21 on the road Tuesday evening.
 
Westminster (2-0) and jumped out to a 28-2 lead over Penn State New Kensington (0-2) at the end of the first quarter. The Titans extended their lead to 51-4 at the end of the first half.  

In the second half, the Titans extended their lead to 57-6 at the end of the third, and cruised to the victory in the fourth quarter.
 
The Titans shot 46.7% (28-60) from the field and 28.6% (8-28) from beyond the arc, while recording an 50% mark from the charity stripe. Penn State New Kensington was 12.8% (6-47) from the field and 18.2% (2-11) from three. The Titans outrebounded the Nittany Lions 43-29. The Titans also forced 17 turnovers on the Nittany Lions.  
 
Sophomore guard Magen Polczynski (Irwin, PA / Norwin) recorded a career-high 20 points off of a 7-11 mark from the field to lead all scorers. Polczynski also grabbed five rebounds and knocked down a career-high five three-pointers.  Junior guard Alazia Greaves (West Sunbury, PA / Moniteau) tallied 12 points on a 4-6 night from the field. First-year guard Camden Hergenrother (Salem, OH / Cardinal Mooney) notched eight points, grabbed a game-high six rebounds and dished out a game-high three assists. Senior forward Kayla Bennett (Kent, OH / Theodore Roosevelt) and first-year guard Natalie Murrio (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) contributed six points each. Sophomore guard Asti Brestensky (Freeport, PA / Freeport) tallied four points off of a pair of buckets for Westminster.
 
Westminster's 2-0 start to the season is the first since the 2007-08 campaign when it started the season 6-0. The Titans made it all the way to the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship game that season.
 
Westminster will be back on the court Friday, November 15 on the road when it travels to North Manchester, Indiana to take on Kalamazoo College in the first day of the two-day Manchester Tip-Off Tournament at 5 p.m.
