NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team remained undefeated in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) following a 3-1 home win against Waynesburg University Saturday afternoon.
Westminster (16-1, 5-0 PAC) lost the first set (25-23), but won three-straight sets (25-8, 25-19, 25-17) for its eighth-straight victory. In the third set, the Titans were down 15-11, before answering with a 14-4 run to win the set. In the match-deciding fourth set, the Yellow Jackets took an early 8-3 lead, however, the Titans responded with a 13-2 run to take a 16-10 lead (Westminster never lost the lead after going up 10-9).
Junior
Megan Steele (Corry, PA / Corry) led the Titans with 10 kills, while sophomores
Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft) and
Becky Adelman (Randolph, OH / Waterloo) each had eight kills. Steward also tallied nine digs. Junior
Haley Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) dished out a team-high 20 assists, followed by sophomore
Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) who had 10. Kelly also had eight digs and tied a match-high with three service aces. Senior
Josie Toporcer (Warren, OH / Lordstown) registered a match-high 22 digs. Senior
Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) also had double-digit digs with 12, to go along with six kills. Senior
Haley Farmerie (Manor, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) added six kills and tied with Adelman and Steele with a match-high three blocks.
The Titans are back in action Wednesday, Oct. 9 with a road conference match at Chatham University at 7 p.m.
