WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team lost its first match of the season at Washington and Jefferson by a final score of 5-4 on Thursday.
Westminster fell to 9-1 overall and 3-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). W&J jumped to 5-5 and 4-1 in the PAC.
The Titans claimed four out of the six singles matches on the day.
Alex Marzouca (Kingston, Jamaica / Immaculate Conception) claimed victory at No. 2 singles, dispatching her opponent by a final score of 6-0, 6-1. Junior
Casey Barton (New York City, NY / Dominican Academy) won her match in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2. First-year
Sabrina Slagle (Pittsburgh, PA / Upper Saint Clair) and junior
McKenna Robinson (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) each claimed victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles by scores of 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-2) and 6-2, 7-6, respectively.
The Presidents won all three doubles matches to come away with the victory.
The Titans will be back on the court on Tuesday when they travel to Penn State Behrend for a non-conference match at 4 p.m.
