Women’s Soccer: Offensive Onslaught Pushes Titans Over Bearcats at Home

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's soccer team defeated their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent, Saint Vincent College, by a score of 8-0 at home on Saturday. The eight goals by Westminster tied the most goals in a game since 2015 against Pitt-Greensburg on September 17 (W, 8-1).

After 27 minutes of scoreless play, senior midfielder Gabrielle Diamond (Moon Township, PA / Moon) notched the first goal of the game off of a feed from first-year forward Julia Redilla (Harmony, PA / Seneca Valley) to give the Titans a 1-0 lead. Senior Kayla Trozzi (Monroeville PA, Gateway) extended Westminster's lead to 2-0 just two minutes later when she scored off of a touch from junior forward Marissa Grande (Hubbard, OH / Hubbard). Grande dished out another assist in the 36th minute when junior forward Skylar Bryant (Boardman, OH / Boardman) notched her first of two goals on the day. The Titans took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

In the 58th minute, Trozzi and Redilla tallied back-to-back goals in a span of three minutes to expand Westminster's lead to 5-0. In the 78th minute, senior midfielder Maura Belding (Columbiana, OH / Crestview) contributed to the cause with her first career goal to extend the Titans' lead to 6-0. Sophomore Ashley McNabb (Grove City, PA / Grove City Area) scored off of an assist from junior Jocelyn Gillette (Natrona Heights, PA / Highlands) and Bryant notched her second goal off of an assist from senior Heather Haley (Canfield, OH / Canfield) to cap off the offensive outburst.

The Titans outshot the Bearcats (29-8) and led in corner kicks (7-1).

Titan sophomore goalkeeper Camille Holzschuh (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) collected two saves in 50:41 minutes of play and got the victory, while first-year Kendra Trimbach (Ballston Lake, NY / Shenendehowa) picked up a pair of saves in 39:19 of action.

Westminster will return to the pitch on Saturday, Nov. 2 when it takes on Geneva College in a PAC matchup at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
