Volleyball: Titans Sweep W&J, DeGeorge Earns 1,000th Career Kill

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team won their 20th match of the season and remained undefeated in the conference as the Titans swept Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Washington & Jefferson College at home Tuesday night.
 
Westminster, on a 12-match winning streak, won by the score of 25-13, 25-17, and 25-16. The Titans were down 12-10 in the second set, before pulling away with seven-straight points. The shutout was Westminster's 11th overall this year and third against a PAC opponent.
 
The Titans improved to 20-1 overall and a 9-0 in the PAC. The Presidents dropped to 4-17 overall and 3-7 in the league.
 
Westminster senior Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) highlighted the match as she earned her 1,000th career kill, becoming only the 11th Titan ever to achieve this milestone. Sophomore Becky Adelman (Randolph, OH / Waterloo) led the Titan offense with a match-high 12 kills, including a match-best .526 hitting percentage. DeGeorge also had double-digit kills with 10, to go along with a match-high four aces. Sophomore Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft) and junior Megan Steele (Corry, PA / Corry) added eight and six kills, respectively. Junior Haley Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) dished out a match-high 16 assists, while sophomore Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) earned 14. Senior Josie Toporcer (Warren, OH / Lordstown) led the defense with a team-high 17 digs, followed by DeGeorge with 11.
 
The Titans will next play Waynesburg University in PAC play Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
