NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 76-67, at home to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Grove City College on Saturday.
Grove City (9-6, 4-3 PAC) started the game up 8-1 with 16:19 to play. Westminster (5-12, 3-5 PAC) went on a 14-6 run to take its first lead of the game (15-14). Four lead changes ensued with the last one coming in favor of the Titans (27-26) with 3:02 left. Westminster maintained its lead and led 32-28 at halftime. In the second half, the Titans led by as much as eight points (44-36) with 14:40 to play. The Wolverines responded with a 10-2 run to tie the game at 46 with 11:58 on the clock. The Titans regained the lead and led 52-46 with 9:35 to play. The Wolverines took their first lead of the second half, after a 14-5 run, and led, 60-57, with 4:10 left. African Grant II (Warren, OH / Warren JFK) made a traditional three-point play with 2:33 remaining. Grove City regained the lead and never looked back, outscoring the Titans, 13-3, for the remainder of the contest.
Five Titans scored in double-figures led by junior
Dylan O'Hara (Girard, OH / Girard) with 15 points. Junior
Lloyd Chatman (Columbus, OH / Reynoldsburg) (12), Grant (10), sophomore
Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) (10), and sophomore
Isaac Stamatiades (Elkridge, MD / Avalon) (10) also scored in double-digits. O'Hara also led the Titans on the glass with 10 rebounds. Stamatiades and junior
Blake Payne (Ashtabula, OH / Jefferson Area) each grabbed six rebounds, while Grant had five. O'Hara and junior
Ricky Roth (Ellwood City, PA / Lincoln) each dished out a team-best three assists. O'Hara also tied a game-high with a career-high two blocks. Grant tied a career-high with a game-high four steals.
Grove City outshot Westminster 51.0% (26-51) to 31.9% (23-72). Both teams had 40 rebounds.
The Titans are back in action Saturday, January 19 at Chatham University with a tip-off of 2 p.m.
