Men’s Basketball: Titans Drop PAC Contest at Chatham

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 62-55, at Chatham University in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Friday evening.
 
Westminster (5-13, 3-6 PAC) had an early 4-2 lead before Chatham (11-6, 5-4 PAC) went on a 12-0 run and led 14-4 with 15:35 on the clock. The Titans were unable to get any closer than eight points of the Cougars' lead for the rest of the first half. Chatham led 35-22 at intermission. The Cougars led 43-30 at the 14-minute mark in the second half, however, the Titans responded with a 6-0 run to cut Chatham's lead to 43-36 with 10:41 left. Westminster kept battling and got within five points of the Cougars' lead three times, with the latest coming when junior Lloyd Chatman (Columbus, OH / Reynoldsburg) made a jumper with 4:19 to play (50-45). That would be the closest the Titans would get for the remainder of the game.
 
Titan senior Austin Armwood (Columbus, OH / Westerville North) tied Chatman for a team-high with 11 points. Chatman also gathered in a career-high six rebounds. Sophomore Isaac Stamatiades (Elkridge, MD / Avalon) scored nine points, while junior Blake Payne (Ashtabula, OH / Jefferson Area) had eight. Junior Dylan O'Hara (Girard, OH / Girard) added seven points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Armwood dished out a team-best four assists. Junior Ricky Roth (Ellwood City, PA / Lincoln) tied a career-high with a game-high three steals. Sophomore Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) and senior African Grant II (Warren, OH / Warren JFK) each had a block.
 
Chatham outshot Westminster 43.1% (22-51) to 37.1% (23-62). Both teams had 36 rebounds.
 
Westminster is back in action Wednesday, January 23 as it hosts Thiel College at 8 p.m.
