Women’s Tennis: Titans Open PAC Play with 7-2 Win Over Geneva

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play with a 7-2 victory over Geneva College on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Westminster (1-1, 1-0 PAC) earned its first win of the season, while Geneva fell to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Junior Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley) was victorious at the number one singles spot (6-3, 6-3). Junior Alex Marzouca (Kingston, Jamaica / Immaculate Conception) defeated her number two opponent, 6-2, 6-2, at number two singles. Sophomore's Julia Serbati (Oil City, PA / Oil City Area) and Casey Barton (New York City, NY / Dominican Academy) earned victories at the number three (6-1, 6-0) and four (6-1, 6-1) seeds, respectfully. First-year Sara Small (Beaver, PA / Beaver Area) defeated her opponent at the number five spot (6-3, 6-1) for the first singles victory of her collegiate career.
 
Mason and Marzouca teamed up at number one doubles, blanking Geneva's number one duo 8-0. Serbati and Small also earned a victory in doubles, defeating the Golden Tornadoes number two duo, 8-4.
 
Westminster is back in action Friday, September 14 on the road at the University of Mount Union for a non-conference match starting at 3:30 p.m.
