Softball: Rohrer Throws No-Hitter, Titans Advance to ECAC Semifinals

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College softball team, the second seed, won, 1-0, over Neumann University, the seventh seed, in the First Round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Tournament at home on Wednesday.
 
Titan senior Jazmyn Rohrer (Purcellville, VA / Woodgrove), the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year and First Team honoree, threw a no-hitter, the first of her career in a seven-inning game. Rohrer improved to 21-5 on the season, while striking out 11 and only walking one.



Senior Emiley Westfall (Jefferson, OH / Perry) scored the only run in the game in the first inning. Westfall led off the inning with a walk. Senior Alexa Owrey (New Castle, PA / Shenango) advanced Westfall to second base with a sacrifice bunt. Junior First Team All-Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) Kailey Liverman (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley) followed with an infield single; Westfall advanced to third then scored on a throwing error by Neumann's first baseman.
 
Neumann end its season at 24-17. Westminster improved to 28-9 overall and will play the winner of No. 3 Rutgers University-Newark (21-16) and No. 6 New York University (20-20) at Rutgers-Newark (who play tonight at 7:00 p.m.) on Saturday, May 12 in the Semifinals on the campus of Penn State Behrend. The game time is yet to be determined.
