VIENNA, Ohio – The Westminster College men's tennis team defeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Waynesburg University, 8-1, Saturday afternoon at the Squaw Creek Country Club.
Westminster, extending its winning streak to three matches, improved its overall record to 3-6 on the season and 2-2 in the conference. Waynesburg fell to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the PAC.
Titan freshman
Miguel Ascencio (Venitia, PA / Peters Township) won at number one singles 6-1, 6-1, extending his number one singles winning streak to five matches. Senior
Kornel Foremski (Shaker Heights, OH / Shaker Heights) also extended his singles winning streak to five matches at the number four spot, defeating his opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Freshman
Alex Georgescu (Hermitage, PA / Hickory) was victorious at number two singles, 6-4, 6-3, while freshman
Yu-Hsien Lin (New Taipei City, Taiwan / Andrews Osborne Academy) won at number six singles, 6-0, 6-2. Freshman
Collin Kelly (McDonald, PA / Canon MacMillan) was also victorious at number five singles (6-1, 6-2) and extended his winning streak at that spot to three matches.
Ascencio and Foremski teamed up at number one doubles for an 8-4 victory. Georgescu and senior
A.J. May (Butler, PA / Butler) won at number two doubles (8-2), while Kelly and sophomore
Hunter Paff (Beaver Falls, PA / Riverside) were victorious at number three doubles, 8-6.
