Women’s Lacrosse: Titans Fall to ORLC Foe Earlham

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Westminster College women's lacrosse team fell to Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) opponent Earlham College, 16-7, on the road Sunday afternoon.
 
Earlham (3-11, 2-7 ORLC) struck first with just over one minute gone in the first half (1-0). Westminster (4-8, 4-5 ORLC) answered with two goals, courtesy of junior Emily D'Amico (Moon Township, PA / Moon Area) (28:35) and sophomore Bria Braddock (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) (28:22) to give the Titans a 2-1 advantage. The Quakers regained the lead with goals at the 28:04 and 18:17 marks of the first half to lead, 3-2. Sophomore Michaela Hays (Blairsville, PA / Blairsville) found the back of the net with 13:57 to go in the first to tie it at three, however, Earlham scored two goals before the end of the half to take a 5-3 lead into halftime.
 
The Quakers opened the second half on a 4-0 run, capped off by Jennifer Douyere at the 25:12 mark to lead, 9-3. Titan first-year Marisa Keller (Canonsburg, PA / Canon-McMillan) scored with 23:51 to go (9-4), but Earlham scored three unanswered goals over the span of eight minutes to take a 12-4 lead. Braddock scored her second and third goals (12:54/10:25) of the game, while first-year Taylor Williams (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex Area) registered a goal with 2:55 to go.
 
Braddock tallied a team-high in goals (3), ground balls (10), and draw controls (6), while also registering a game-high four caused turnovers. D'Amico recorded one goal, one assist and five ground balls while Keller finished with one goal and eight ground balls. First-year goalkeeper Matalyn Holland (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler Area) registered six saves in a complete-game effort.
 
Westminster led in ground balls, 34-30, while Earlham led in clear attempts, 21-19.
 
Westminster is back on the field at home Tuesday, April 24 against conference opponent Saint Vincent College. Start time is set for 6 p.m.
