CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Westminster College baseball team was swept in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader at Thomas More College Saturday afternoon.
The Saints won game one, 6-3, and game two, 16-3.
In game one, Westminster (10-10, 4-6 PAC) was down 4-0 after three innings of play. Junior
Michael Douds (Erie, PA / Cathedral Prep) put the Titans on the scoreboard with an RBI-double in the bottom of the fourth. The Titans cut the Saints' lead to 4-3 after scoring two runs in the seventh; junior
Ernie Burkes (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) and senior
Joseph Salmen (New Castle, PA / Union) both earned an RBI. Thomas More (14-13, 10-4 PAC) stopped any further damage in the seventh and added insurance with two more runs in the eighth. Titan junior pitcher
Dante Parente (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) (1-1) went 5.1 innings, while giving up four runs (none earned) on nine hits. He struck out one and walked two.
In game two, the Saints scored five in the first inning, one in the second, and six in the fifth for a 12-0 lead. Parente broke the shutout with a two-run home run to right field in the sixth. Parente now has two homers on the season. Two batters later, sophomore
Frank Cinicola (Cranberry Township, PA / Seneca Valley) doubled to left center, bringing home another run for the Titans. Thomas More matched the Titans' run total with three of its own in the bottom of the sixth and added another score in the seventh. Titan sophomore pitcher

Westminster is back on the field Monday, April 23 with a road conference doubleheader at Grove City College, starting at 1 p.m.
