WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College women's lacrosse team fell to Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) opponent Washington and Jefferson College, 16-3, on Wednesday afternoon.
Westminster fell to 3-7 overall and 3-4 in the ORLC. W&J improved to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play.
W&J struck first at the 28:47 mark in the first half and scored two minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. Titan sophomore
Michaela Hays (Blairsville, PA / Blairsville) found sophomore
Cortlynn Douds (Darlington, PA / Blackhawk) at the 22:27 mark for a goal, cutting into the Presidents' lead 2-1. W&J went on an 11-0 run, taking a 13-1 lead into halftime. Westminster sophomore
Bria Braddock (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) opened the second half with a goal (13-2/ 28:32) and scored with 7:28 left to play, making the score 14-3.
Braddock finished with two goals and a team-high three ground balls. Braddock also tied a game-high five draw controls. First-year goalkeeper
Matalyn Holland (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler Area) finished with 10 saves in a complete-game effort.
Westminster is back in action Saturday, April 21 at conference opponent Franklin College. Start time is set for 12 p.m.
