GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Westminster College men's lacrosse team fell to non-conference opponent Guilford College, 15-6, Saturday afternoon.
Westminster fell to 0-1 on the year, while Guilford improved to 3-2.
Titan senior
Raymond Shalvoy (Rochester, NY / East Rochester) opened the scoring with a goal at the 6:16 mark in the first quarter. Guilford's Brennan Sweeney answered two minutes later with a goal of his own, tying the game at one. The score stayed the same at the end of one. In the second, Guilford scored three unanswered goals (4-1), capped off by Joe Eggleston at the 5:20 mark. Titan sophomore
Adrian Culp (Gaithersburg, MD / Quince Orchard) scored with 1:46 left in the frame, and Guilford ended the second quarter with a 5-2 lead.
At the 9:37 mark in the third quarter, Guilford extended its lead to 9-3. Westminster scored three unanswered goals in the stretch of two minutes to decrease the gap (9-6), but Guilford kept their lead the rest of the way.
Sophomore
Dante Serra (Center Valley, PA / Southern Lehigh) led the Titan offense with two goals. Westminster junior goalkeeper
Carter Hall (Zeeland, MI / Zeeland West) collected 26 saves between the pipes.
The Titans are back in action Monday, March 5 at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. Start time is set for 2 p.m.
