Women’s Lacrosse: Titans Play Transylvania in Home and Conference Opener

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's lacrosse team competed against Transylvania University in its home- and Ohio River Lacrosse Conference-opener Saturday afternoon.
 
Transylvania won, 22-6. The Pioneers led, 15-1, at halftime, but only outscored the Titans, 7-5, in the second half.
 
Sophomore Bria Braddock (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) scored the first goal for the Titans at the 28th minute of the first half. Westminster junior Emily D'Amico (Moon Township, PA / Moon Area) tied a career-high with a team-high three goals, all in the second half (28:11, 15:49, 07:32).
 
Sophomore Michaela Hays (Blairsville, PA / Blairsville) and first-year Marisa Keller (Canonsburg, PA / Canon-McMillan) each added a goal for the Titans. Hays's score was her second of the season, while Keller's was her first of her collegiate career.
 
Titan first-year goalkeeper Matalyn Holland (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler Area) collected eight saves in a complete-game effort.
 
Transylvania outshot Westminster, 37-12, and held a 20-16 advantage in ground balls. The Titans led, 9-8, in free-position shots.
 
Westminster will next host Franciscan University in non-conference action Tuesday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m.
