BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Westminster College women's lacrosse team fell to non-conference opponent Bryn Athyn College, 15-5, Saturday afternoon.
Westminster (0-2) struck first with a goal from sophomore
Bria Braddock (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) at the 25:06 mark in the first half (1-0). Junior
Emily D'Amico (Moon Township, PA / Moon Area) extended the Titan lead a minute and a half later, putting the Titans up, 2-0. Bryn Athyn (2-0) answered with seven unanswered goals, the latest coming at the 2:43 mark in the first half from Laura Clymer. D'Amico scored her second goal of the game with 2:25 remaining in the half, closing the Lions' lead, 7-3. Bryn Athyn went into halftime with a 9-3 lead. Westminster sophomore
Michaela Hays (Blairsville, PA / Blairsville) opened up the second half with a goal (9-4) at the 25:40 mark, but Bryn Athyn went on a 5-0 run to take a 14-5 lead. D'Amico recorded a hat trick, scoring her third goal with 5:16 remaining.
D'Amico led the Titans in shots (5) and points (3), while sophomore
Cortlynn Douds (Darlington, PA / Blackhawk) led the team and tied a game-high with a career-high six groundballs. Braddock finished with one goal off of one shot, while also recording an assist. First-year
Matalyn Holland (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler Area) finished with 12 saves in a complete-game effort.
Bryn Athyn outshot Westminster, 35-10, and also led in groundballs, 29-10.
Westminster's next game and home-opener is Saturday, March 24 against Transylvania University. Start time is set for 12 p.m.
