Men’s Soccer: Titans Earn First Win of Season

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's soccer team earned its first win of the season after a 7-3 victory over Penn State Altoona in its home-opener on Wednesday.

Titan senior Zack Walters (Hermitage, PA / Hickory) scored the first goal at the 10:55 mark in the first half off a penalty kick, putting Westminster (1-1-1) ahead 1-0. After the Lions (0-3-0) tied the game, 1-1, with a goal at the 17:37 mark, sophomore Ahmed Cisse (Germantown, MD / Clarksburg) found freshman Nick Iregui (Gig Harbor, WA / Charles Wright Academy) off a corner kick to put the Titans back in front, 2-1. Penn State once again tied the game, 2-2, however Cisse (29:11) and Walters (31:21) scored back-to-back one-touch goals and the Titans led 4-2. Penn State scored the final goal of the half (42:35) and Westminster led 4-3 at halftime.

The Titans pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Lions 3-0. Junior Shane Fallen (Blue Bell, PA / Wissahickon) (58:28), Cisse (59:25), and senior Jon Clark (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington) (80:35) registered the three Titan goals.

Westminster junior goalkeeper AJ Bove (New Stanton, PA / Hempfield Area) collected three saves in 72:38 minutes of work.

The Titans outshot the Lions 27-14, including a 11-7 advantage on-goal.
