HIRAM, Ohio – The Westminster College men's team opened the 2017 season with a 1-1 draw against Albion College on Saturday afternoon. Today's game was the first of two games at the Hiram College Tournament.
Titan senior
Fedja Smajic (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) scored his first goal of the season in the 21
st minute. Fedja also led all Titan players with three shots, while sophomore
Ahmed Cisse (Germantown, MD / Clarksburg), junior
Shane Fallen (Blue Bell, PA / Wissahickon) and senior
Zack Walters (Hermitage, PA / Hickory) had two shots each.
Albion's Kay Whitmore scored the equalizer in the 81
st minute, which was assisted by sophomore Gabe Martinez.
The Britons outshot the Titans 20-12, including a 16-10 advantage in the first half. Additionally, Albion held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Titan junior goalie
AJ Bove (New Stanton, PA / Hempfield Area) had six saves, including two critical saves in the second overtime to keep the game tied at one, in a complete game effort.
The Titans (0-0-1) will next play Hiram College in its final game of the Hiram Tournament on September 3 with a 7:45 p.m. start time.
