PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team won its fifth-straight match after a 3-0 sweep of La Roche College in non-conference action Wednesday night.
Westminster won the first set, 25-20, the second set, 25-15, and the third set, 25-10. For the second-straight match, the Titans earned a team hitting percentage over .300; Westminster hit .371 in the third and final set.
Titan junior
Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) registered a career-high 16 kills, which were also a match high. Seniors
Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) and
Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) added 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Yoho also tied a match-high with three blocks. Junior
Shanna Daniels (Hermitage, PA / Billy C. Ryan) dished out a season- and match-high 23 assists, to go along with a match-best two service aces. Dickson led the Titan defense with 16 digs, followed by junior
Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) (13) and sophomore
Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) (9). Junior
Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) added 15 assists. Sophomores
Allison Rebich (Erie, PA / Mercyhurst Prep.) and
Haley Farmerie (Manor, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) each had two blocks.
Westminster improved to 7-1 overall, while the Redhawks dropped to 2-9 on the season.
The Titans will next compete in Thiel College's tri-match on Saturday, September 16. Westminster will play Thiel at 11 a.m. and Bethany College at 1 p.m.
