NEW WILMINGTON, Pa – The Westminster College women's tennis team defeated Bethany College, 8-1, in its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener Tuesday afternoon at home.
 
The Titans improved to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the PAC, while the Bison dropped to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
 
Titan seniors Gabriele Eaborn (Coraopolis, PA / West Allegheny) and Patricia Pivaronas (Saxonburg, PA / Knoch) won their matches with scores of 6-1, 6-1 (No. 1) and 6-0, 6-0 (No. 3), respectively. Sophomore Alex Marzouca (Miami, FL / Immaculate Conception) won her match 6-0, 6-1 (No. 2) and Westminster first-year players Casey Barton (Forest Hills, NY / Dominican Academy) and Julia Serbati (Oil City, PA / Oil City Area) dropped only two sets combined, winning 6-2, 6-0 (No. 6) and 6-0, 6-0 (No. 4), respectively.
 
The Titan doubles teams won all their matches with a combined set total of 24-2. Pivaronas and Marzouca won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles, while first-year Makenna Robinson (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) teamed up with classmate Casey Barton for an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.
 
The Titans are back in action Saturday, September 16 at 2 p.m. in Latrobe, Pennsylvania where they will match up with conference foe Saint Vincent College.
