NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College softball team won its 10
th-straight game as it swept Chatham University in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action at home on Saturday.
The Titans won game one, 5-1, and won, 9-1, in six innings in game two.
In the first game, Chatham (3-18, 0-6 PAC) led 1-0 after an RBI-single by Cassandra Gray in the second inning. Westminster (18-6, 6-0 PAC) responded with five unanswered runs in the fourth, fifth, and six innings. Titan sophomore
Kailey Liverman (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley) scored the tying run on a wild pitch in the fourth inning and connected on an RBI-double in the fifth inning, bringing home junior
Hannah Ritter (Front Royal, VA / Skyline), to put the Titans in front 2-1. The Titans added insurance in the sixth inning with three more runs; Ritter singled home junior
Addie Dieterich (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley), junior
Alexa Owrey (New Castle, PA / Shenango) scored on a Chatham error, and senior
Checka Nardone (Ellwood City, PA / Lincoln) brought home Ritter with a ground out. Titan junior pitcher
Jazmyn Rohrer (Purcellville, VA / Woodgrove) improved to 10-0 after allowing only one run on three hits, to go along with eight strikeouts, in a complete game.
In game two, the Titans were up 7-0 after five innings of play. The Cougars scored their lone run in the top of the sixth inning, while Westminster scored two more in the bottom half. Nardone, Liverman, and senior
Emily Lindsey (Freeport, PA / Freeport) each registered at team-high two RBIs. Rohrer, junior
Courtney Cohen (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington), and junior
Nicole Anderson (Oakmont, PA / Riverview) also earned an RBI apiece. Liverman also hit a double, her team-leading ninth on the season. Junior

Courtney Dieterich (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley Lindsey), and Lindsey each recorded a steal. Titan first-year pitcher
Kayla Troxil (Canfield, OH / Canfield) (6-5) pitched five shutout-innings, while only allowing three hits. She struck out two and walked the same. Rohrer came in for relief with the bases load and forced a pop up, a ground out (on a fielder's choice), and had a strikeout to end the threat.
The Titans are back in action Tuesday, April 11 with a home conference doubleheader versus Bethany College. Game one is set for 3:30 p.m.
