WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College baseball team lost both games in its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader at Washington & Jefferson College on Tuesday.
 
The Titans lost game one, 12-0, and fell in game two, 5-1.
 
In game one, Washington & Jefferson (9-3, 4-0 PAC) scored one run in the second inning, three in the third, two in the fourth, two in the fifth, and four in the sixth. The Presidents outhit the Titans, 10-6. Titan senior 
Sean Coyne (New Castle, PA / New Castle) registered a team-high two hits. Coyne (0-2) pitched 4.2 innings, while giving up eight runs (six earned) on six hits. He struck out five and walked four.
 
The game was scoreless through three innings in the second game. In the fourth inning, the Presidents ended the scoring drought with four runs. W&J's Derek Helbing singled home Dan Trettel for the first run. Senior Nick Vento followed with a three-run home run, extending the Presidents' lead to 4-0. Senior 
Jared Baummer (Reynoldsville, PA / Dubois) put the Titans on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth inning with an RBI-single, scoring classmate 
Tyler Bommer (Renfrew, PA / Seneca Valley). W&J scored the final run in the bottom of the sixth. Sophomore 
Cody Acon (Industry, PA / Western Beaver) pitched a complete game, while giving up five runs on eight hits. Acon earned three strikeouts, while walking four. W&J outhit Westminster, 8-3.
 
Westminster (4-12, 1-4 PAC) is back on the field Friday, March 31 with a home nine-inning game against Bethany College, starting at 4 p.m.
