Volleyball: Titans Win Both PAC Matches at Geneva Tri-Match

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team won both Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches at Geneva College's tri-match Saturday afternoon.
 
The Titans shut out Waynesburg University, 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-12), in their first match and won, 3-2 (19-25, 25-15, 25-22, 19-25, 15-7), against Geneva in their last match.
 
Westminster, on a five-match winning streak, improved to 16-4 overall and 8-2 in the PAC.
 
Against the Yellow Jackets (1-17, 0-11 PAC), Titan senior Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) led the offense with a match-high 17 kills. Junior Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) and sophomore Haley Farmerie (Manor, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) added eight and six kills, respectively. First-year Josie Toporcer (Warren, OH / Lordstown) guided the defense with a career- and match-best 17 digs, followed by Saxton (16) and junior Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) (14). Toporcer and junior Shanna Daniels (Hermitage, PA / Billy C. Ryan) tied a match-high with two service aces each. First-year Hannah Santom (Grove City, PA / Grove City) dished-out a match-high 18 assists, while Daniels had 17. Farmerie and first-year Megan Steele (Corry, PA / Corry) both tied a team-best with two blocks apiece.  
 
Against the Golden Tornadoes (8-16, 6-4 PAC), Yoho once again led the Titan offense with 19 kills, followed by senior Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) (14) and Saxton (12). Toporcer set a new career-high with a team-high 28 digs, while Dickson and Moore each had 26. Daniels tied a season-high with a team-best 29 assists, followed by Santom (20). Yoho had a match-high eight blocks and a team-high two aces. Saxton added four blocks.
 
The Titans are back on the court Tuesday, Oct. 10 at Grove City College at 7 p.m.
