NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team concluded its regular season with two wins at its home tri-match on Saturday.
The Titans won, 3-0 (25-3, 25-7, 25-16), over Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Waynesburg University in their first match and won, 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-19), against Oberlin College in their second contest.
Against the Yellow Jackets (1-24, 0-18 PAC), the Titans hit a season-high .413 as a team, including .632 in the first set. Titan sophomore
Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) registered a match- and career-high 13 service aces. DeGeorge's ace total was also the most by any Titan this season. Senior
Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) earned a match-high 15 kills, followed by senior
Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) (10). Yoho added three aces, followed by junior
Shanna Daniels (Hermitage, PA / Billy C. Ryan) (2). Daniels also dished out a match-best 17 assists. First-years
Haley Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) and
Hannah Santom (Grove City, PA / Grove City) each had eight assists. Senior
Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) led the Titan defense with eight digs. Yoho and DeGeorge tallied seven and six digs, respectively. Yoho also had a match-best three blocks, while Dickson had two.
Against Oberlin (12-13), Yoho had a match-best 12 kills, followed by Dickson (8), Saxton (6), and DeGeorge (6). Junior
Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) tied a match-best with two service aces. Yoho and sophomore
Haley Farmerie (Manor, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) each had a team-high four blocks. Daniels and junior
Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) had 14 and 12 assists, respectively. Dickson once again led the defense with 12 digs, while DeGeorge and Moore each had 10. Daniels added nine digs.
Prior to their first match, the Titans recognized their two seniors, Dickson and Yoho, for Senior Day.
Westminster (25-5, 15-3 PAC) has clinched the second seed and first-round tournament bye for the 2017 PAC Championship Tournament. The Titans will face the winner of the No. 3/No. 6 game in the other semifinal match Friday, Nov. 3 at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills Ky.
