NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team won, 3-0, over Bethany College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown at home Thursday evening. Coming into tonight's match, Westminster was second in the PAC standings, while Bethany was third.
The Titans won set one, 25-17, set two, 25-13, and set three, 25-9. Westminster hit .361 in the final set. The win was Westminster's first at home over Bethany since 2011.
Westminster improved to 18-4 overall and 10-2 in the conference, while the Bison dropped to 16-9 overall and 9-4 in the PAC.
Sophomore
Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) led the Titan offense with a career-high 16 kills, with a .400 hitting percentage, to go along with 10 digs. Senior
Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) earned 14 kills, while sophomore
Allison Rebich (Erie, PA / Mercyhurst Prep.) had four. Yoho also tied a match-high with two blocks. Senior
Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) led the defense with a match-best 25 digs. Junior
Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) and
Shanna Daniels (Hermitage, PA / Billy C. Ryan) added 17 and 12 digs, respectively. First-year
Hannah Santom (Grove City, PA / Grove City) dished out a match-high 15 assists, while Daniels had 12. Daniels also earned a match-best four service aces.
Westminster will look to avenge the Washington & Jefferson College Presidents, who edged the Titans on Sept. 27, at home on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m.
