LATROBE, Pa. – The Westminster College women's basketball team lost, 75-51, at Saint Vincent College in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Saturday night.
Senior
Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) scored a team-high 11 points, to go along with seven rebounds. First-year
Brooke Lyczek (Cranberry PA / Seneca) had 10 points. First-year
Emily Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) registered eight points, while sophomore
Jackie Mathews (Pittsburgh, PA / OLSH) and junior
Kylie Cook (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) each had six points. Fromknecht led the Titans on the glass with eight rebounds, to go along with a team-best four steals. First-year
Francesca Sicari (Erie, PA / McDowell) dished out a team-high two assists. Durbin and first-year
Kayla Bennett (Kent, OH / Theodore Roosevelt) each had a block.
Saint Vincent (9-6, 6-2 PAC) outshot Westminster (5-10, 0-8 PAC) 36.4% (24-66) to 32.6% (15-46) and outrebounded the Titans 46-33.
Saint Vincent led 21-9 at the end of the first quarter. Westminster started the second quarter with a 16-8 run, capped off with a three-pointer by Mathews, to cut the Bearcats' lead 29-25 with 3:12 remaining in the half. Saint Vincent, however, outscored Westminster 14-3 for the remainder of the half and led 43-28 at intermission. The Bearcats maintained their double-digit lead in the second half, while outscoring the Titans 32-23.
The Titans are back in action Wednesday, January 18 when they host Geneva College at 6 p.m.
