Men’s Basketball: Titans Drop PAC Game at Saint Vincent in Conference Showdown

LATROBE, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 89-68, at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Saint Vincent College Saturday night.
 
Both teams were tied for first place in the PAC coming into Saturday's game. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Titans.
 
Titan junior Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) tied a career-high with a team-best 22 points, while tying a career-high with a game-high six three-pointers. Sophomore Austin Armwood (Columbus, OH / Westerville North) (12), senior Cameron Pozsgai (Windham, OH / Windham) (10), and junior Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) (10) also scored in double-digits for Westminster. Sophomore African Grant II (Warren, OH / Warren JFK) added eight points. Scott was one rebound away from a double-double, as he grabbed down a game-high nine rebounds, and dished out a team-best four assists. Pozsgai and Grant added five rebounds apiece. Scott and Domenick each had two steals.
 
Saint Vincent (11-4, 7-1 PAC) outshot Westminster (10-5, 6-2 PAC) 56.4% (31-55) to 32.8% (19-58) and held a slight advantage in rebounds, 34-33.
 
Westminster led 11-10 in the first half after Domenick made a three-pointer with 13:55 on the clock. Saint Vincent responded with a 7-0 run to take a 17-11 lead with 12:18 remaining. The Titans answered right back with a 5-0 run, capped off with another three by Domenick, to cut the Bearcats' lead to 17-16 with 11:20 to play. Saint Vincent, however, maintained the lead and outscored Westminster 21-12 for the remainder of the frame and led 38-28 at halftime. The Bearcats took a 40-30 lead with 19:26 on the clock in the second half and maintained their double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest.
 
Westminster is back in action Wednesday, January 18 with a home PAC game against Geneva College at 8 p.m.
