Volleyball: Titans Win Both Matches in Day One of Penn State Behrend/Allegheny Northwest PA Challenge

ERIE, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team won both of its matches in day one of the Penn State Behrend/Allegheny Northwest Pennsylvania Challenge on Friday. Both of tonight's matches were hosted by Penn State Behrend.
 
The Titans (6-2) won, 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21), over Morrisville State College (5-3) in the first match and shut out Penn State Behrend (3-4), 3-0  (25-21, 25-13, 25-14), in the second match.
 
Against the Lions in the shutout, junior Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) led the Titan offense with a match-high 11 kills. Senior Lauren Slater (Plum, PA / Oakland Catholic) added 10 kills, while junior Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) had six. Dickson also registered a match-high two aces. Sophomore Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) dished out a match-high 19 assists, while classmate Shanna Daniels (Edinburg, PA / Billy C. Ryan) earned 18. Slater tallied a match-high four blocks, while senior Katie Pricener (Wilmerding, PA / Serra Catholic) and Yoho added three apiece. Senior Megan Little (Slippery Rock, PA / Slippery Rock) topped the defense with a match-high 10 digs, followed by Yoho and Daniels with eight each.

Against the Mustangs, Yoho led the offense with 17 kills, while Dickson had 10. Barker and Daniels had 12 assists each. Yoho also led the defense with 20 digs, to go along with a team-high six blocks. Also earning double-digit digs for the Titans were first-year Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) (18) and Dickson (17).
 
Westminster will conclude the tournament on Saturday. The Titans will face Allegheny at 11 a.m. and D'Youville College at 1 p.m. Both matches will be hosted by Allegheny.
