MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team split its two matches in the final day of the Penn State Behrend/Allegheny Northwest Pennsylvania Challenge on Saturday. Both of today's matches were hosted by Allegheny College.
The Titans lost, 3-2 (23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 29-27, 15-12) to Allegheny in the first match and won, 3-1 over D'Youville College in the second match.
Westminster (7-3) was up 2-0 against Allegheny (4-4), however the Gators won three-straight sets to win the match. Titan junior Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) tied a career-high with a match-high 21 kills. Westminster junior Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) added 14 kills, while first-year Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) had seven. Yoho also had a match-high seven blocks, while senior Lauren Slater (Plum, PA / Oakland Catholic) and sophomore Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) each had four. Sophomore Shanna Daniels (Edinburg, PA / Billy C. Ryan) and classmate Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) led Westminster in assists with 26 and 23, respectively. DeGeorge tied a season-high with a team-high 19 digs. Yoho and Dickson registered 18 and 16 digs, respectively.
Against D'Youville (1-7), Yoho registered a team-high 17 kills, followed by senior Katie Pricener (Wilmerding, PA / Serra Catholic) with six. Yoho also had a team-best seven blocks, while Pricener and DeGeorge had three each. Sophomore Marti Liechty (Lolo, MT / Sentinel) and Barker led the Titans in assists with 16 and 14, respectively. DeGeorge led the Titan defense with 13 digs, followed by first-year Logan Daggy (East Rochester, OH / United Local) and Dickson with 10 each.
Westminster will next compete in Waynesburg University's tri-match on Thursday, September 15. The Titans will face Saint Vincent at 6 p.m. and Waynesburg at 8 p.m.
