PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team swept its two matches at Chatham University's tri-match Wednesday night.
The Titans won, 3-1 (25-20, 25-12, 20-25, 26-24), over La Roche College in the first match and shut out Chatham, 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-11), in their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener in the second contest.
Against La Roche (2-4), junior
Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) led the Titan offense with 14 kills. Sophomore
Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) dished out a match-high 43 assists. Senior
Megan Little (Rock, PA / Slippery Rock) topped Westminster's defense with 33 digs, followed by junior
Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) (24) and first-year
Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) (18). Senior
Katie Pricener (Wilmerding, PA / Serra Catholic) registered a match-high 10 blocks, while sophomore
Nikki Beatty (Darlington, PA / Blackhawk) earned seven.
Against Chatham (0-7, 0-2 PAC), Yoho once again led the offense with 14 kills. DeGeorge and senior
Lauren Slater (Plum, PA / Oakland Catholic) added nine kills each. Barker again led the team in assists (23). Little (39), Dickson (33), and DeGeorge (19) led the Titan defense in digs. Yoho and Slater added three blocks apiece.
Westminster (4-2, 1-0 PAC) will next compete in the Allegheny College/Penn State Behrend Tournament, starting on Friday, September 9 against Morrisville State College at 4 p.m. and Penn State Behrend at 6 p.m.
