LATROBE, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team split two matches, including its season-opener, on Friday in day one of the Saint Vincent College Bearcat Challenge.
The Titans lost their first match 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-15) to Baldwin Wallace, however bounced back and shutout Franciscan in the second contest, 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-18).
In Westminster's win, Titan junior
Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) had a team-high eight kills, followed by junior
Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) and senior
Lauren Slater (Plum, PA / Oakland Catholic) with six kills each. Dickson led Westminster in digs with 10, followed by Yoho with nine. Sophomore
Shanna Daniels (Edinburg, PA / Billy C. Ryan) tallied a team-high 12 assists, while classmate
Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) led the Titans with four blocks. Sophomore
Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) registered a team-best two aces.
The Titans finish the Challenge tomorrow with a 1 p.m. match versus Carlow University and a 5 p.m. match versus The College of Wooster.
