BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Westminster College men's soccer team won, 5-0, over D'Youville College on the road Wednesday night.
Senior
Jon Clark (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington) scored the first goal at the 38:47 mark. Freshman
Ahmed Cisse (Germantown, MD / Clarksburg) earned the assist.
Westminster added four more goals in the second half, starting with junior
Fedja Smajic (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) with 47:15 on the clock for his first goal of the season. Clark earned the assist.
Junior
Grant Gagnon (Johnstown, PA / Westmont Hilltop) extended Westminster's lead to 3-0 with a goal at the 58:16 mark. Senior
Jeremy Wiening (Trophy Club, TX / Byron Nelson) had the assist.
Freshman
Peter Mattocks (Saegertown, PA / Saegertown) scored the final two goals at the 73:28 and the 79:05 marks, respectively. Mattocks now leads the team with four goals on the season.
For the game, Westminster out-shot D'Youville 28-6, including 14-1 in the second half.
Westminster sophomore goalkeeper
AJ Bove (New Stanton, PA / Hempfield Area) earned three saves in 67:54 minutes.
Westminster will next host Carnegie Mellon University on Friday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m.
