MARIETTA, Ohio – The Westminster College women's soccer team won its first game of the season after a 3-0 shutout on the road at Marietta College on Saturday.
All three Titan goals came with less than 20 minutes remaining in regulation.
Sophomore
Keely Birsic (North Ridgeville, OH / Elyria Catholic) scored the first goal, her first of the season, after receiving a pass from classmate
Carli Sebest (Poland, OH / Poland) and first-year
Kaelyn Puhalla (Youngstown, OH / Austintown-Fitch) at the 71:09 mark.
Westminster sophomore
Emily Irvine (Cheswick, PA / Deer Lakes) netted the next two goals, including the first of her collegiate career. The first goal came at the 79:50 mark after she dribbled through the defense and the second score came from 18 yards out with 81:03 on the clock; Birsic earned the assist.
Titan junior goalkeeper
Laura Page (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) collected three saves in 84:10 minutes.
For the game, Westminster out-shot Marietta (2-2-0) 14-7, including a 10-3 shots-on-goal advantage.
Westminster (1-2-1) will next play at Muskingum University tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
