Baseball: Waynesburg Spoils Senior Day, Tops Titans 13-8

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College baseball team lost, 13-8, to Waynesburg University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on Senior Day on Friday.

The game was tied, 5-5, after two innings of play. Waynesburg (15-22, 13-9 PAC), however, pulled away with four runs in the third, three in the six, and one in the seventh. Westminster (9-26, 6-16 PAC) added three in the bottom of the eighth.

Titan senior
Ryan Dunn (Freeport, PA / Freeport) and freshman
Tyler Zaletel (Perry, OH / Perry) both had a three-run home run; Dunn is now tied for a team-high three homers on the season, while the long ball marks Zaletel's first of his collegiate career. Junior
Sean Coyne (New Castle, PA / New Castle) and classmate
Jared Baummer (Reynoldsville, PA / Dubois) each had an RBI. Senior
Kyle Borton (Mineral Ridge, OH / Mineral Ridge) (3-7) pitched 2.1 innings and gave up nine runs on eight hits. He struck out two batters and walked four.

Waynesburg recorded five extra base hits, including three home runs.

Westminster will next play at Waynesburg in its season finale on Sunday, May 8 in a doubleheader. Game one is set to start at 2 p.m.
