Baseball: Titans Conclude 2016 Season

WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Westminster College baseball team was swept in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader at Waynesburg University in its season finale on Sunday.
 
The Titans lost, 7-0, in game one and lost, 7-2, in the second game.
 
In game one, the Yellow Jackets scored one run in the first inning, two in the third inning, and four in the seventh inning. For the game, Waynesburg out-hit Westminster, 13-4. Titan junior Nate McMaster (Stow, OH / Stow-Munroe Falls) (1-7) pitched 4.0 innings, while giving up three runs on seven hits. He struck out three batters and walked four.
 
In the second game, Waynesburg (15-22, 15-9 PAC) registered three runs in the first, one in the second, one in the third, and two in the sixth. Freshman Ben Canty (Pittsburgh, PA / Keystone Oaks) scored the lone Titan runs with a two-run home run in the fifth inning, scoring junior Jared Baummer (Reynoldsville, PA / Dubois). This was Canty's first homer of his collegiate career. Sophomore pitcher Joseph Salmen (New Castle, PA / Union) (1-1) threw 2.1 innings, while giving up five runs on eight hits. He struck out one and walked one.
 
Westminster finished the 2016 season 9-28 overall and 6-18 in the conference.
