NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College softball team won its 15
th-straight game as the Titans swept Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Waynesburg University at home on Wednesday.
Westminster (19-11, 12-0 PAC) won game one, 2-0, and game two, 1-0. The Yellow Jackets dropped to 14-20 overall and 5-7 in the conference.
In game one, sophomore pitcher
Jazmyn Rohrer (Purcellville, VA / Woodgrove) improved to 10-6 on the season after throwing a two-hit complete-game shutout. Rohrer struck out five batters and walked none. Westminster scored its first run in the first inning when first-year
Kailey Liverman (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley) hit a sacrifice fly, scoring junior
Emily Lindsey (Freeport, PA / Freeport). The Titans added insurance in the fourth inning when sophomore
Alexa Owrey (New Castle, PA / Shenango) brought home classmate
Addie Dieterich (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley) with a ground out. Liverman and Owrey each had a double.
In the second game, the Titans scored the game's lone run in the second inning when sophomore
Emiley Westfall (Jefferson, OH / Perry) brought home classmate
Addie Dieterich (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley). Senior
Amber Forrest (Clear Spring, MD / Clear Spring) (9-5) pitched a complete game in the shutout win. She allowed five hits and struck out three batters, while walking none. Dieterich registered a double, while Rohrer connected on a triple.
Westminster is back in action Saturday, April 23 when it plays at Thiel College in a conference doubleheader. Game one is set for 1 p.m.
