NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College baseball team was swept by Saint Vincent College in its home and Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener in a doubleheader on Wednesday.
The Titans lost 4-3 in game one and 3-2 in game two. Saint Vincent took the lead with two runs in the seventh in both games.
In game one, junior
Sean Coyne (New Castle, PA / New Castle) put the Titans in front, 2-0, after a two-run home run over the left center field fence, his first of the season, in the fourth inning. Freshman
Travis Lauster (Slippery Rock, PA / Slippery Rock) doubled in junior
Kellen Gursky (Greenville, PA / Reynolds) in the fifth to extended Westminster's lead to 3-0. Saint Vincent (8-5, 2-0 PAC) cut the Titans' lead to 3-2 after two runs in the sixth with two outs. In the seventh, the Bearcats responded again with two outs with two runs to take a 4-3 lead. Saint Vincent sealed the win after striking out the Titans in order in the bottom of the seventh. Kyle Borton (Mineral Ridge, OH / Mineral Ridge) (1-2) went 6.2 innings, while giving up four runs on eight hits. He struck out six batters and walked one.

Ryan Dunn (Freeport, PA / Freeport) tied the game, 1-1, in game two after an RBI-double in the fifth inning, scoring freshman
Joseph Salmen (New Castle, PA / Union). Gursky put the Titans ahead, 2-1, with an RBI-single in the sixth, bringing home Coyne. The Bearcats responded with a two-run seventh inning to take a 3-2 lead. Junior
Nate McMaster (Stow, OH / Stow-Munroe Falls) (0-3) pitched 6.2 innings, while giving up three runs on six hits and striking out three.
Westminster (1-11, 0-2 PAC) will next play at Saint Vincent on Thursday, March 24 for a nine-inning game starting at 1 p.m.
