GROVE CITY, Pa. – The seventh-seeded Westminster College men's basketball team upset second-seeded Grove City College, 59-57, on the road in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament Quarterfinals.

Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) split a pair of free throws to cut the Wolverines' lead to 57-55, however Titan sophomore
Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) grabbed the offensive rebound and tied the game with a jumper, 57-57, with less than a minute left. Sophomore
Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle) was fouled with five seconds remaining and made both free throws, putting Westminster in front 59-57. On Grove City's ensuing possession, Stephen Tam's three-pointer, with one second left, was waived off and called for a double dribble.
Westminster has now won four-straight games, while snapping the Wolverines' six-game win streak. The win marked the first over Grove City since Feb. 19, 2011. It was also the program's first road championship tournament playoff victory since winning the PAC title in 2005.
Grove City (18-8) started the game with a 9-0 lead with 15:56 on the clock. Junior
Jason Pilarski (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) put Westminster (10-17) on the scoreboard with a layup with 11:18 remaining; which was the start of an 11-0 Titan run that ended with a jumper by senior
Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin), putting Westminster in front 11-9 with 8:17 left. Domenick gave Westminster its largest lead of the frame after a three-pointer, extending its lead to 19-13 with 5:08 on the clock. The Wolverines responded with a 10-0 run to take a 23-19 lead and led 25-23 at halftime.
In the second half, Westminster took its largest lead of the game, 41-29, when Carswell made a three-pointer with 13:46 remaining. Grove City responded with a 22-10 run to tie the game at 51 with 4:11 remaining.
Three Titans scored in double-figures, led by Carswell with 13 points. Freshman
Austin Armwood (Westerville, OH / Westerville North) and Wallander scored 11 points each. Armwood made a game-high three three-pointers. Domenick, Vrabel, and Pilarski each registered seven points. Sophomore
Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) grabbed down a team-high 12 rebounds. Vrabel and Wallander each had six rebounds. Domenick dished out a game-high six assists.
Westminster will play at top-seeded and three-time defending league champion Saint Vincent College (20-6) in the Semifinals on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
Admission to all PAC Championship Tournament contests is $5 for adults and $2 for students, with students at PAC host institutions admitted for free with valid ID. Championship tournament programs will be on sale for $1.
