LATROBE, Pa. – Seventh-seeded Westminster College had its four-game winning streak come to an end as it lost, 70-65, at top-seeded Saint Vincent College in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Basketball Championship Tournament Semifinals Thursday night.

Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) recorded the third double-double of his career with season-highs in points (20) and rebounds (12).
In the first half, Saint Vincent (21-6) started the game with a 9-0 lead with 17:35 on the clock. Westminster responded with a 5-0 run, capped off by a three-pointer by Carswell, to cut the Bearcats' lead to 9-5 with 16:41 remaining. Saint Vincent stayed in front and took its first double-digit lead at the 10:03 mark when Bobby Swartwout made a layup, extending the Bearcats' lead to 24-14. Westminster orchestrated a 21-9 run, capped off by another three by Carswell, to take its first lead of the game, 35-33, with 2:13 on the clock. Carswell scored 11 points during the run, including a one-handed alley-oop dunk, assisted by sophomore
Brandon Domenick (New Castle, PA / New Castle). Saint Vincent regained the lead, 39-37, with a three-pointer by JC Howard and led by the same at halftime.
Westminster got back in front in the second half and led by as much as five points twice, with the latest coming with 14:42 remaining when sophomore
Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) had a tip-in.
The Bearcats clawed their way back and retook the lead, 59-58, with a layup by Howard with 5:52 remaining, their first lead since the 18:51 mark.
The Titans cut Saint Vincent's lead to one point twice with the latest coming when Domenick converted on a traditional three-point play with 2:17 remaining, tying the game at 63. The Bearcats, however, pulled away with a 7-0 run to take a 70-63 lead with 15 seconds on the clock.
Three other Titans scored in double-figures, led by Domenick with 13 points. Senior
Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) and Vrabel recorded 12 and 11 points, respectively. Sophomore
Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) added seven rebounds. Domenick tied a game-high with four assists. Freshman
AJ Grant (Warren, OH / Warren JFK) had a team-high two steals.
For the game, Westminster out-shot Saint Vincent 45.5% (25-55) to 40.7% (22-54) and held a 42-30 rebound advantage.
Westminster finishes the season 10-18 overall and 8-10 in the PAC. The 10 wins are the most in seven years, while the eight conference wins are the most in nine. The Titans won, 59-57, over second-seeded Grove City College in the PAC Quarterfinals on Tuesday, their first win over the Wolverines in five years and the program's first road championship tournament playoff victory since winning the PAC title in 2005.
