GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Westminster College women's basketball team lost, 78-68, at Thiel College in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Saturday afternoon.
Three Titans scored in double-digits, led by sophomore
Kristine Fromknecht (Erie, PA / McDowell) with 17 points. Junior
Rachel Durbin (Lowellville, OH / Lowellville) and sophomore
Kylie Cook (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) registered 16 and 15 points, respectively. Sophomore
Paige Quinn (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) dished out a game- and career-high nine assists, which ties for fourth in school history for assists in a single game. Quinn's mark was the most since Kaitlin McCarthy had nine assists in 2009. Durbin and Fromknecht each had a team-high three three-pointers. Sophomore
Danielle Dindak (West Homestead, PA / Serra Catholic) led Westminster on the glass with five rebounds. Quinn also tied a game-high with a team-best three steals. Sophomore
Ashley McConahy (New Wilmington, PA / Ellwood City) added a block.
Westminster (3-20, 3-13 PAC) had an early 5-0 lead after a three-pointer by Fromknecht with 6:54 remaining in the first quarter. Thiel (4-19, 4-12 PAC) responded with a 17-3 run to take a 17-8 lead with 2:35 left. The Tomcats led 23-18 at the end of one.
The Titans kept battling and got within three points of Thiel's lead (39-36) after a three by sophomore
Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Conchranton) with 2:10 remaining in the first half. Thiel held a 43-37 halftime lead.
Thiel extended its lead in the third quarter and led by as much as 17 points (65-48) with 1:20 on the clock. The Tomcats maintained their double-figure lead for the remainder of the game.
Westminster is back on the court Wednesday, Feb. 17, when it travels to Washington & Jefferson College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
