Volleyball: Titans Drop Two in Home Tri-Match

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team lost both of its matches in its home tri-match on Saturday.
 
The Titans lost, 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 25-7, 8-25, 15-10) to Grove City College (7-15, 4-6 PAC) in game one and, 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 33-31), to Bethany College (14-11, 9-2 PAC) in the second match. In the final set against the Bison, Westminster led 24-22 after a kill by sophomore Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield). Bethany went on a 3-0 run to take a 25-24 lead. Westminster had two match-point opportunities, but was unable to take advantage.
 
Against the Wolverines, Titan junior Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) had a game-high 18 kills. Seniors Lauren Slater (Plum, PA / Oakland Catholic) and Katie Pricener (Wilmerding, PA / Serra Catholic) added eight and seven kills, respectively. Pricener added a match-high seven blocks, followed by Slater (6) and Yoho (3). Sophomore Marti Liechty  (Lolo, MT / Sentinel) and classmate Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) earned 19 and 18 assists, respectively. Senior Megan Little (Slippery Rock, PA / Slippery Rock) led the Westminster defense with 15 digs, while first-year Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) and sophomore Mackensie Garris (Meadville, PA / Saegertown) each had 10.
 
Against the Bison, junior Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) led the Titan offense with five kills, followed by Pricener (4) and Slater (4). Dickson and first-year Molly Parker (North Huntingdon, PA / Norwin) each had a team-best two service aces. Slater and Pricener added five and four blocks, respectively. Barker registered a team-high 12 assists. Little once again topped the defense with 11 digs, followed by DeGeorge (8) and Dickson (6).
 
Westminster (11-12, 4-7 PAC) is back on the court Tuesday, October 11 with a home match versus Waynesburg University at 7 p.m.
