LATROBE, Pa. – The Westminster College men's soccer team won, 2-1, at Saint Vincent College in double overtime on Saturday.
Junior
Zack Walters (Hermitage, PA / Hickory) put Westminster in front, 1-0, with a goal in the 70th minute from 30 yards out, his first on the season.
Saint Vincent's Zach Kocak tied the game, 1-1, with a score in the 82nd minute off a penalty kick.
Westminster junior
Fedja Smajic (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) netted the game-winner off a free kick in the 107th minute in double overtime, his second goal on the season.
For the game, the Titans out-shot the Bearcats, 27-25, including 14-11 on-goal. Westminster held a 16-7 advantage in corner kicks.
Westminster sophomore goalkeeper
AJ Bove (New Stanton, PA / Hempfield Area) earned a career-high 10 saves in a complete-game effort.
The Titans improved to 5-5-2 overall and 2-1-0, in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) while the Bearcats dropped to 2-10 and 1-2 in league play.
Westminster is back in action Wednesday, October 12 with a 3:30 p.m. match at Grove City College.
